The tritium recycling process that we provide will insure that your Tritium sign product is recycled in accordance with local, state, and federal laws, and not dumped or stored in landfills or other storage sites.
We can Recycle tritium exit signs and other tritium products that contain tritium; Tritium is a radioactive form of hydrogen. Mixing tritium with a chemical known as a phosphor in a sealed tube will emit light in the presence of radiation, and it creates a continuous self-powered emitting light source.
The rules and regulations on tritium filled signs differ from that of conventional electrical signs in that these tritium signs can not be discarded in the trash or dump yard sites. There is a process on how to recycle this type of sign.
You have 30 days from the date of disposing of a sign, that the general licensee is required to file a report to the NRC or Agreement State that includes the following:
The device manufacturer’s (or distributor’s) name, model number and serial number; the name, address, and license number of the person receiving the device; and the date of the transfer.
